"It was my first time to Saint Tropez and I don't think I will forget it any time soon. The story for an editorial we were shooting was set in a burlesque club, on the beach. Think Moulin Rouge on the sea. Dark eyeshadow, weird suits, strange positions, on a stage where normally the almost naked girls dance. After a few hours, they needed to change some lights, so that gave me a break to get out of the strange circumstances, and have a moment on the beach. Aaah the fresh air. The beauty of the sea. So cool to see other brands being sustainable! Check out the new Vans sneakers. Vans latest attempt is the animal-free 106 SF, a classic après-surf sneaker that features uppers made from hemp or recycled PET, along with water-based dyes and glues that are gentler on the environment. The one-piece outsole is made by injection mold, a process that is virtually waste-free. Another waste-reducing masterstroke comes in the form of the footbed lining, which is made from Dri-lex Bamboo, a patented material that requires no trimming or cutting. We support!

They are doing some good work already for a while: Dutch favela painters Haas & Hahn. These Dutch artists have adorned several concrete landscapes in Brazil with their colorful paintings, and now they’ve taken on the transformation of a blighted neighborhood. The area, Santa Marta, is one of Brazil’s notorious favelas, or shantytowns. They call this urban explosion of color Favela Painting, and it has become a local source of pride.
Haas & Hahn is the working title of Dutch artistic duo Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn. They started working together in 2005, when they filmed a documentary about hip hop in the favelas of Rio and São Paolo for MTV. Inspired by this visit, they embarked on a journey to bring outrageous works of art to unexpected places, starting with painting enormous murals in the slums of Brazil together with the local youth.
