Another story from Glamour’s fashion editor Jetteke during her trip in Peru for work. Jetteke visited Mario Testino’s sister Giuliana whom is a great designer in her homeland. “Giuliana is just an amazing woman and designs a beautiful collection of knitwear, very special”. All of her work is handcrafted, using techniques of crochet, hand knitting, macramé and embroidery. Due to the craft and element of handmade knitwear, each item has an identity of its own, with some designs that can take up to one month to complete. Testino only uses natural fibres of mercerized pima cotton and baby alpaca blends, with a majority of the shades free of chemical and synthetic dyes. The alpacas live at 14000 feet above sea level, where contamination is almost non existent due to the argental territory. More info check: Giuliana Testino

As far as groovy philanthropic endeavors go, TOMS Shoes and Charity Water have been making ripples in the social-responsibility sphere. The two companies have joined forces to launch the TOMS Shoes for Charity: Water collection, two limited-edition shoes that will raise money to build a clean-water well in the village of Sekura in Northwest Ethiopia. Everyone who purchases the heather-gray Map shoe (which features a tonal map of Africa and a jerry-can lining) or the bright-blue Water shoe (multi-tonal water illustration) will receive details on how they directly contributed to building the well, the impact it has on the lives of the villagers, along with photos of the completed project.
Another significant detail: with every pair of shoes you buy, TOMS will donate a new pair of kicks to a child in need, meaning that your one-time contribution has twice-as-nice of an impact. We support!

Glamour magazine in Peru

Also at Glamour magazine they discovered the beauty of Peru! Fashion editor Jetteke van Lexmond shooted several photoshoots in different parts in Peru and was in love with the country and his people. “Peru is really a jewel in South America. The versatility that this country has to offer is great: the ancient Incas with their incredible history, the Maya culture and the jungle with his overwhelming nature, really breathtaking! One of the places I visited was Machu Pichu…On the foot of the mountain there’s a beautiful hotel called Machu Pichu Pueblo, hidden among a lot of greenery. A luxury hotel with really a green heart. They grow their own coffee and tea, have their own garden with fresh vegetables and fruits every day served during breakfast, lunch and dinner. One of the buses will take you then to Machu Pichu where no words can express what I saw….Another great thing about Peru is the food. The Peruvian fusion cuisine is one of the finest and best in Latin America and known for his freshness and unique blend of flavors and ingredients. Ceviche, the national dish with raw fish or shellfish marinated in lime juice, has the potential of sushi, and will, according to top chef Gastón Acurio (star chef in his own country and international ambassador of Peruvian cuisine) take over the world. Soon another story"!
