Linkle - the world's first sewing cafe

As we are a Style_Conscious denim brand, we like to give you tips on finding new & eco-luxury ways to improve your wardrobe.

Sure, you can cross the city and quickly buy yourself the latest fashion around – or you could be more efficient & cost-effective, by re-using clothes you stopped wearing!

What's really hot in fashion these days, is combining new & old clothes (second-hand will do). And whether it's Kuyichi's or not, one day your wardrobe needs to be revived!

How about redesigning your first Kuyichi trousers (the one that got torn after climbing the fence, you remember?). Drop it in a bag and jump on the train to get it fixed, the cool way 'round!

Linda Eilers, a 29-year old eco-entrepeneur from the Netherlands, left the country to realise her dream in Berlin: the world's first sewing cafe!

This hotspot in Berlin's Kreuzberg is not a monthly gathering of grannies liking to sew, stitch or knit their latest fashion, this is all about Doing-It-Yourself without having the mess at home & with the social setting of a cafe!

Eilers' sewing cafe offers 10 sewing machines and a knitting table, where you can work on, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 13h00 - 22h00. You can just walk in and install yourself behind a machine, for 5 euros the hour.

And if you need help or advice, there's always a professional around. The staff can be at help to replace broken zippers, or advises on tailoring a vintage dress or stitching a handbag. Linkle serves a wide range of customers — from teenagers customizing jeans, to a woman creating her own wedding dress.

The city of Berlin offers the ultimate space for a concept like this; a city with low rents and plenty of crafters, mostly young people with less money then creative ideas for money-saving solutions!
For entrepreneurs with a love for sewing (or carpentry, or almost any other kind of craft), now's the time to make the most of the craft revival as it continues to expand. Set up a working space, and maybe combine it with a fabric or supplies shop. Step out & realise your dreams!
